2.4GHz vs 5GHz Wi-Fi Connection for Loop FrameUpdated a month ago

How Can I Connect My Loop Frame If My Wi-Fi Router Uses 5 GHz?

Our Loop frame is designed to connect specifically with 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks. While some newer devices and routers run on 5 GHz, we chose 2.4 GHz to ensure that Loop works seamlessly across a wide range of home networks, especially for families with varying tech setups. The 2.4 GHz frequency is ideal for the Loop frame because it has a longer range and can connect easily through walls—helping Loop stay connected across the home.

That said, we understand how this could be inconvenient if you’re primarily using 5 GHz WiFi. I have attached a few options that might make it possible to connect without needing to return your frame.

Here are a few ways that might help get your Loop frame connected:

  • Check Your Router Settings: Many routers broadcast both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks. By logging into your router settings (often through your internet provider’s app or website), you may be able to double-check that the 2.4 GHz network is enabled. Some routers even let you name the two networks separately, so you could label the 2.4 GHz network something like “HomeNetwork2.4” and select that for your Loop frame.

  • Try Setting Up a Guest Network: Many routers also allow you to set up a “Guest Network,” which often runs only on 2.4 GHz by default. You can connect your Loop frame to this Guest Network if that option is available—it’ll work the same as your main network!

  • Use a Mobile Hotspot Temporarily: As a quick workaround, you can try using your mobile device to create a temporary hotspot. Many smartphones let you choose between 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz for your hotspot, so if you can set it to 2.4 GHz, your Loop frame should connect. Once it’s connected, there’s a chance it will stay connected to your router even after you turn off the hotspot.

  • Use a WiFi Extender on 2.4 GHz: If you have a WiFi extender at home, these often allow you to broadcast only the 2.4 GHz band. You could connect your Loop frame to the extender’s network, while everything else stays connected to your main network as usual.

‼️If you prefer not to make changes to your frame or the above fixes aren't working, you might contact your internet provider to see if they can enable a 2.4GHz network, as this has worked for some users.

📦 If you are still unable to connect your Loop frame, please see the Returns section for how to return it to us.
