Can I only text photos instead of using the Loop app?Updated a month ago

So, you’ve been invited to share your favorite photos to someone’s Loop frame and want to use our exclusive text message feature to do it? (Prefer to share photos via the app? Read this article instead!)

First of all, congratulations! That means they think you’re awesome enough to deserve a spot on their cherished photo rotation. Here’s the deal: to get started, you’ll need to download our free Loop app. We promise it’s quick, easy, and worth it. AND, if you wish, you can delete it after verifying your number and cut down on app clutter on your device.👍

Why download the app, you ask? For now, it’s how we make sure only the right people can send photos to a Loop frame. Think of it as a quick handshake to confirm, “Yep, you’re invited!” Once that’s done, you can text photos straight to the frame without opening the app again. Yep, you heard us right—set it up, and then delete the app if you’re feeling minimalist.

‼️Please note that currently, each user who wishes to utilize the text message feature must first follow the steps below to set up an account... you cannot just use the same number that was given to the first person who signed up. Each number needs to be individually verified with their own account to route photos to the designated album.

Let’s get started!

📲 I got an invite to share to someone's Loop frame... now what?

  1. Download the Free Loop App:

    • Head over to the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) and search for “Loop Family.” Hit download.

  2. Create a Quick Account:

    • Open the app and sign up with your name and email.

  3. Verify Your Phone Number:

    • Once you’re in, go to Menu > Text Photos to Loop and verify your phone number.

    • Follow the steps to link your number to the frame owner’s invite. This part is important because it keeps Loop secure and ensures only approved people can send photos.

  4. Set Your Photo Destination:

    • Make sure the Loop frame owner has sent you an invite to a specific album on their frame.

    • In the app, navigate to Menu > Text Photos to Loop > Change where my photos go and select the album associated with their invite. If you skip this step, your photos might not appear where they’re supposed to!

  5. Start Texting!

    • Once you’re verified, you can text single photos directly to their Loop frame using the number provided. No need to open the app again unless you want to.

‼️Make Sure You’re Texting the Right Number‼️

Here’s an important tip: you know how mistyping even one digit can get you the coffee shop down the street when you meant to call Grandma instead? Make sure to double-check your Loop frame's number before sending and save it in your contacts (example: Grammie’s Loop) so you know your photos are going to the right place! Save the frame’s number in your contacts for easy and accurate texting.

The BIG Question: Do I have to keep the Loop app forever?

We get it—app overload is real. 💯 Once you’ve successfully set up your phone number, selected the correct album, and tested the feature, feel free to delete the app altogether if you'd like. You’ll still be able to text single photos to the Loop frame whenever you want. 🎉 (Don't forget - you do need the app if you want to send videos or bulk photo uploads)

A Quick Reminder 💨

  • One Photo at a Time: Texting only supports one image per message. For videos or sending multiple photos, you will need to use the Loop app.

That’s it! We’re so excited for you to share your favorite memories with their Loop frame. Whether it’s a snapshot of a goofy pet, a beautiful sunset, or your latest selfie masterpiece, we know it’ll bring a smile to their face. Now, get texting—and have fun!
